In The Garden: End of May

We are at the crux and our gardening success relies upon the next couple of weeks.

Tempt fate.

Direct seed:

Beans, corn, all squash & zucchini, cucumbers, basil, chard, all annual herbs

Second (or third) succession seedings:

Lettuce, carrot, beet, radish, spinach, kale

Begin to harden off warm season seedlings:

Tomato, pepper, tomatillo, eggplant. Additionally (if started indoors): squash, zucchini, cucumber, basil, and any of the broccoli family

Frankly, this has been an exceptionally odd year. And the most concise gardening advice might simply be: if you have seeds then put them in the soil, if you have seedlings then start to harden them off.

If you have questions about specific crops then send a note!
