Nature Journaling Basics with Nancy Seiler

We have both admired and shared her work promoting pollinators and native plants for many years. Now we get to enjoy an afternoon of instruction from one of Montana's most treasured nature artists.

In this 3-hour class you'll begin by learning how to start a journal page, make color swatch cards so that you can match color to your watercolor pencils or watercolors in the field; learn about the importance of close observation by doing a number of warm-up drawings where you will begin to have more confidence in your drawing skills. Tips on how to draw landscapes in a manageable way, and how to look for lights and map them. We'll also go over some basics on drawing a leaf using skeletal structure as a guide. You'll come away with some excitement to draw in your journal on a regular basis.
