Curiosity Campers: Gear Up
Curiosity Campers Gear Up!!
We are excited to embark on our 2016 schedule.
January is dedicated to Nature Journaling. We will be spending as much time outdoors as indoors, so bring warm layers of clothing. Our nature journaling sessions will be based on observation, collection, identification and art.
February 2nd-14th we will be celebrating the Great Backyard Bird Count: (http://gbbc.birdcount.org ). This is a citizen science project and we are adding our own touches. We will be learning how to identify birds, setting up bird feeder stations on the grounds, making natural feeders. February 12th through the 14th is the actual bird count weekend. We will be recording birds at the O’Hara Commons and sending campers home with the materials needed to record birds over the weekend.
February 16th we will begin Project Budburst. This phenology curriculum is experiential science learning designed for kids. Each child will adopt a plant and track the changes as plants emerge from dormancy. We will incorporate natural history and plant based projects and crafts. More details will be sent out closer to the date.
As with all of our programs, our mission is to provide an inquiry based learning experience integrating nature, art, crafts and healthy food options. We provide a safe and fun learning environment that supplements school curriculum while developing stewardship of nature, curiosity and creativity.
We will be meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:45 until 5:15, beginning on January 12th. We will provide healthy, mostly organic and always GMO free snacks and beverages. We look forward to seeing you. Please give us 24 hours notice of attendance so we can have materials and supplies prepared. The cost is $12, including all supplies and snacks.
